ABOUT RON'S MUSIC
Writing music to question fault lines and challenge the status quo.
Best known for a musical style that blends luminous chordal soundscapes with deep emotional vulnerability, Ron creates music that speaks about intimate human connection and pertinent social issues. His catalogue ranges from accessible, heartfelt melodies to advanced, cinematic works for divisi choir, piano, and string ensembles.
Ron's music moves between two registers: songs that offer safe harbours of belonging and songs that question societal fault lines.
His songs are often autobiographical and built around the people who've shaped him. In Golden Trees, he writes about his own experience with isolation in his early youth and how he overcame it. His 2026 work, Promise Me, sits in the grief of parting from a community of people who've become an integral part of one's daily life. The work was written for his juniors graduating from High School this year. And in his newest instrumental work, Hope Is Where the Heart Is, he explores the beauty of true friendship as a source for optimism and strength to dream big and achieve great things in life.
A deep care for his species is precisely what compels Ron to challenge the status quo through his art. His activist, egalitarian spirit shines through in profound social commentaries like It's not easy to be..., More Than What You See, and My World Wears Chains.
Musically, Ron translates these heavy thematic arcs into vivid and often grandiose soundscapes defined by harmonic tension and cathartic release. Whether he is tracing the volatile, accelerating pulse of love in The Race, exploring a joyful, folk-inspired energy in Baila, baila, baila, ven!, or writing sweeping textures in signature pieces like Stillness, Ron’s contemporary choral discography offers a deeply moving and energising experience for any ensemble.
